Annual Ludington vs. Pentwater Pickleball Challenge
We are excited for this year’s Ludington vs. Pentwater Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Pickleball Competition, which will be held at our home courts in Pentwater, on Friday July 31st. This year, Coach Steve Howe will be coordinating our club’s efforts in all team pickleball events. He would like to begin the process of assembling our pairings earlier than in previous years, allowing partners to begin practicing together well in advance of the competition. We are targeting a minimum of 14 women and 14 men to fill out our roster. While we hope our advanced players will help lead the charge, we encourage all interested players to participate in this fun and competitive event. If you would like to be part of the team, or have any questions, please email Steve at smhowe0685@gmail.com, by no later than June 28th. In the coming weeks, look for more information regarding team pairings evaluations and preparation for the competition.

As spring returns to Pentwater, the club is beginning to come back to life. While we’re not fully open yet, the tennis and pickleball courts are “nets up”, and our camera is live streaming once again. We haven’t yet turned on the water to our bathrooms and kitchen, but they’ll be enabled in the weeks ahead—once we’re confident that freezing weather is behind us. The pickleball courts have been active for the past week or so, and members can access the SignUpGenius to participate in Orgranized/Open Play. We also have a Pickleball Clinic going on during the month of May with four recurring Wednesday sessions. A large number of folks have already signed up to participate, but you stil have time to register here. We encourage you to peruse the Website Calendar and SignUpGenius Dashboard to see what we have planned for the 2026 season. For those in town, it’s a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the club and enjoy a quiet start to the season. We look forward to seeing you soon as we continue preparing for a full opening.

We’ve not traditionally used a formal system for reserving tennis courts. However, it was recently suggested that we explore implementing one to better manage court availability and enhance the overall member experience. To that end, we’ve created a SignUpGenius that combines both Organized Play and Open Play into a single, streamlined system. This approach closely mirrors the system that has worked successfully for pickleball in recent years. It provides a single, easy-to-use interface where members can: Sign up for Organized Play (Men’s, Women’s, and Level 1); Reserve a court for Open Play, whether it be for personal use, ball machine, lessons, or small group clinics.
• Level 1 Play (Mon/Wed/Fri mornings): Two courts are pre-designated to reflect projected usage. The Level 1 group may decide not to formally adopt sign-ups, but this setup ensures all other members can clearly view when they’re scheduled, as well as reserve the two remaining courts.
• Morning Hours (Tues/Thurs/Sat): Open Play reservations will be limited to noon or later. This facilitates maximum flexibility for staggering Men’s and Women’s Organized Play during periods of high-demand.
